Shellie Zimmerman Press Conference; She Wants Divorce to 'End With Whimper, Not Bang'
Shellie Zimmerman held a press conference to address issues surrounding the alleged domestic incident that took place earlier this week. Through an attorney, Zimmerman said that she wanted her divorce from George Zimmerman to "end with a whimper, not a bang."
Shellie could not speak for herself, given that the dramatic incident between her and George is still under investigation and she is currently on probation. Her lawyer, Kelly Sims, explained to the press that miscommunication between the two led to the altercation.
George "knew he wasn't supposed to be" at their home while Shellie was moving her things out of the home. "Shellie had a valid reason why she believed George was armed. Shellie Zimmerman wants this relationship to end with a whimper, not a bang. Apparently the young lady that was with him (George) indicated that there were guns in the car."
Police responded to Shellie's call, in which she said that George "continually has his hand on his gun and he keeps saying step closer and he is just threatening all of us. He punched my dad on the nose. My dad has a mark on his face. I saw his glasses were on the floor."
"He accosted my father and then took my iPad out of my hand and smashed it and cut it with a pocket knife. There is a Lake Mary city worker across the street that I believe saw almost all of it. He is sitting in the truck right now. He just showed up here but my phone died so I had to call from my father's phone. I'm really, really afraid," Shellie told the 911 operator.
That iPad is at the center of the investigation. After officers responded to the call and took George into custody, Shellie decided not to press charges. Yet authorities are going to search the iPad for any information or footage of the incident to make sure they don't miss anything.
"These folks need to be on opposite sides of the country," Sims said. "Shellie's desire is to stay as far away from him as she can… And hopefully he feels the same way about her. She's said it many times to me, when you don't know anymore the person who used to sleep next to you. No more needs to be said."
