'Sherlock Holmes 3' Confirmed, Robert Downy Jr. Set to Return
Good news for all the fans of the fictional private detective Sherlock Holmes. A third sequel of the movie franchise is coming and it may be happening earlier than expected. According to a report by IGN, Robert Downy Jr., the actor who played as Sherlock Holmes in the 2009 original film and its 2011 sequel "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows," confirmed that he will be back to reprise his role for a "Sherlock Holmes 3."
It has been a while since the last film in the franchise and it has been a wonder to some fans since the original and the second installment only had two years of gap. But as noted in News Everyday, the delay has a lot to do with the busy schedule of Downey who has been packed playing as Iron Man in "The Avengers," "Iron Man 3," "Avengers: Age of Ultron," and "Captain America: Civil War."
The director of the film, Guy Ritchie, has also been busy with his own schedule. Blastr noted that Ritchie is currently working on "Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur" with Charlie Hunnam. But even with the jam-packed schedule, reports say that Downey will be meeting up with Ritchie during his trip to U.K. as part of his "Captain America: Civil War" tour.

The "Due Date" actor also revealed in an interview with ShortList that he and Ritchie may start filming before the end of the year. "We're talking about it right now. We can do some preliminary stuff. If we could shoot it on Skype, we could have the whole [movie] done in a week," shared Downey. "When we're making those Sherlock movies it is off the hook. [So] we'll attempt to make one this year. It really is a big deal to go and do those movies. I'm tired all the time, but I'm so excited about it," he added.
There aren't much details available yet for the third movie but fans will have to stay tuned to get more updates
