'Sherlock Holmes 3' News & Cast: Movie Production Said To Start Soon
Another installment of the movie adaptation "Sherlock Holmes" is expected to begin soon.
It has been years since the release of "Sherlock Holmes 2," which featured Robert Downey Jr. as the iconic detective. According to Den Of Geek, The delay for the new installment was due to Downey Jr.'s busy schedule as he was under the Marvel contract to portray the role of superhero Iron Man.
However, Collider reported that the production of "Sherlock Holmes 3" will start later this year. Joel Silver spoke to the news source recently, giving some details about the upcoming film. He stated that they are looking to start this fall in order to fit the filming into Downey Jr.'s schedule.
He explained that Downey Jr. is expected to take on another Marvel film early next year, which means that they are to start right away in order to prevent further delay. However, he did add,"Jude [Law] is available and Downey is available, and we're hoping we can get it done. If it works, great. If not, we'll do it another time. But, it looks like it could happen now."
Nevertheless, Silver is looking to continue the "Sherlock Holmes" franchise. He said, "I hope [it's not the last one]. I don't think so. How many Bond films have they made? As long as there's a character, we can work with it. It's not an end story. We can keep going, as long as people want to do it. It's [the actor's] call. They have to say, 'Okay, I'm ready to go.' I read about them making another Bad Boys. If they want to do it, then you try to get it done."
With that, there has yet to be any official date for the release of "Sherlock Holmes 3."
