'Sherlock' Season 4 News: Special Episode to Air Early Next Year
While fans have been waiting patiently for the return of the hit series "Sherlock," it was reported that an upcoming special for the series is expected to make its way early next year.
It was reported that the upcoming "Sherlock" special will be titled "Sherlock: The Abominable Bride." In addition, it was revealed that the special will be available to fans during the early months of 2016.
The fourth season of "Sherlock" is expected to return on Jan. 2017. Previous reports stated that the upcoming season will explore darker themes. There is a speculation that the season could possibly deal with the death of Mary Watson.
Meanwhile, there are reports stating that the series will begin its filming for season 4 starting Apr. 2016. Besides this, more details are yet to be revealed for season 4 of "Sherlock." Even the executive producer of the series, Steven Moffat, did not reveal much about the plot of the new season.
However, he did share some details to excite fans during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. He explained that the episodes for the next season will bring some frightening scenes. He also hinted that there may be several deaths in the season to come. With that, fans are speculating that Mary Watson, played by Amanda Abbington, will see her death in "Sherlock" season 4, as that will go in line with the material of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Some positive details about the season expressed that the new season will be showing the parenting skills of Mary and Dr. John Watson, played by Martin Freeman.
Moffat also shared that he and the team still have not yet decided on which characters will be returning to the fourth season. He explained that the series aims to showcase many talented new actors and spring them into success, such as Benedict Cumberbatch.
