'Sherlock' Season 4 Spoilers, Plot Rumors: Series to Be Most Emotional and 'Darkest' Yet?

Following the massive success of the Christmas special titled "The Abominable Bride," the upcoming season of "Sherlock" is rumored to be the darkest and most emotional yet that fans will ever see.

Commonly called "series" in the United Kingdom, the upcoming season is said to be full of emotions that some fans have been clamoring for. There has been a lot of fun while exploring and haunting truths in the previous seasons, but fans have been wanting to see Benedict Cumberbatch really take his character to the next level. It seems that the creators are giving fans what they want.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly earlier this year, co-creator Steven Moffat said, "It's dark in some ways...It's hilarious and exhilarating some days, but some days it's going to be bloody frightening."

Aside from hinting that fans will see darkness in the fourth installment, Moffat also said season 4 is going to be overflowing with emotions. "It's going to be more of an emotional upheaval," he said.

Another hot topic that's currently on debate forums is when the fourth season will start airing. Recently, Moffat said he is expecting to see films rolling sometime in April, which gave fans the idea that the next time fans will see Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes is in early 2017.

The speculated date isn't bad at all since April is a good start to come up with the best story line and sequences that won't disappoint fans.

It is also highly expected that the dead Moriarty will be back in season 4. He shot himself in season 2, but season 3 saw his face all around Britain's screens seemingly threatening a huge comeback.

One of the more exciting rumors that emerged is that of tiny feet entering the "Sherlock" small screens. Series 3 saw Martin Freeman's John and Mary (Amanda Abbington) expecting a baby. This made fans think that a baby may be making his/her debut in the upcoming season, with Sherlock probably being the godfather.

There is no exact release date announced just yet, but rumor has it that "Sherlock" season 4 will premiere sometime in January 2017.
