'Sherlock' Season 5 Rumors, Latest News: Louise Brealey Hopes to Return; Sian Brooke Hints at Future of Show?

It remains unknown whether "Sherlock" will return for a fifth season. But should it continue, fans can count on seeing Molly Hooper again.

Hooper, played by Louise Brealey, was a specialist registrar in the morgue at St. Bartholomew's Hospital. She frequently helped Sherlock with cases and secretly harbored feelings for him.

The character was a favorite among fans, and a large chunk of them would like Molly to end up with Sherlock.

Brealey recently spoke to Radio Times and revealed that she would reprise the role in a heartbeat should she be asked.

"I'd love to do it again, if Mark [Gatiss] and Steven [Moffat] were doing it," Brealey said. "Obviously Ben would have to be doing it as well, otherwise it'd be a bit s***."

Right now, a fifth season of the hit Sherlock Holmes series has yet to be confirmed. The show is known for taking two-year breaks in-between seasons. And since season 4 only dropped earlier this year, it is likely that there will not be any news for a while.

However, Sian Brooke appeared on ITV's "Lorraine" earlier this month and seemed confident that there was still a future for the show.

"I would say it might come back," Brooke, who played Sherlock's sister Eurus, said (via Express.co.uk). "And I would love to be a part of that! The show is such a gem of a series. It is a real page-turner. When I used to get the script come through, it would be like a little present!"

Of course, everyone's schedules would have to be free at around the same time in order to make season 5 happen. Co-creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss have previously said that they would continue "Sherlock" should star Benedict Cumberbatch be up for it. The Academy Award nominee is currently busy with the "Avengers" sequels and "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas." He will next be seen in "Thor: Ragnarok" and "The Current War" this November.
