'Sherlock' Special Episode: 'Sherlock The Abominable Bride' Holiday Special Watch Online
A Sherlock special episode will be broadcast on New Year's Day 2016 tonight, and the special titled "Sherlock: The Abominable Bride" is set to draw millions of viewers across the United States and the U.K. The one-off special episode will be shown on January 1, 2016 at 9 p.m. local time on the PBS TV network and BBC One.
The Sherlock: Abominable Bride special episode will be 90-minutes long, and is just a stand alone episode set in the usual Victorian era of England.
Makers of the hit series Sherlock have given some hints about the episode and have said that it will center around Arthur Conan Doyle's 1892 story The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle.

That Sherlock story was Doyle's 56 short story, and has a plot featuring the theft of a jewel, and a plumber with a felony record being implicated for the crime.
The PBS synopsis of tonight's special episode states: "Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game) and Martin Freeman (The Hobbit) return as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson in the acclaimed modern retelling of Arthur Conan Doyle's classic stories. But now our heroes find themselves in 1890s London. Beloved characters Mary Morstan (played by Amanda Abbington), Inspector Lestrade (Rupert Graves) and Mrs. Hudson (Una Stubbs) also turn up at 221b Baker Street."
Star of the series, Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Sherlock Holmes, has said ahead of the airing of the episode: "I think Victorian London and all the sort of trappings of that era are endlessly fascinating. The sort of ghoulish, nightmarish, fog-laden dark corners and alleyways. The dampness the sort of whole kind of claustrophobic night world that he inhabits, it's a masterful lens on that whole era as well."
Series creator Steven Moffat in an interview with Entertainment Weekly has said, "Sherlock is a little more polished. He operates like a Victorian gentleman instead of a posh, rude man. He's a lot less brattish."
The Sherlock special episode will also be features at a select number of theaters across the United States on January 5th and 6th, to give fans the chance to see the movie-length special episode on the big screen.
Tonight's Sherlock special, "Sherlock: The Abominable Bride", will be aired on the BBC and on PBS at 9 p.m. local time. The episodes will also be available to watch afterwards on PBS Masterpiece or the BBC Player.
