Shooting at Santa Monica College Leaves 3 Wounded, 1 Suspect in Custody
Reports from California are indicating that at least three people were wounded Friday near Santa Monica College when a gunman opened fire.
Local police revealed that one suspect was arrested after they found him hiding in the school's library, but police also revealed that there may have been more than one shooter, according to CNN.
Santa Monica police said the gunman was among those wounded and that the full extent of the injuries was not immediately known.
Police did issue an evacuation call for the community college and are currently still searching for a possible second suspect.
The shooting took place near where President Obama was making an appearance at a fundraiser. The school, however, is several miles from where President Obama was appearing at a fundraiser and apparently not related to his visit.
The Secret Service revealed that they were aware of the shooting but that it did not pose a threat to the President and that it would not alter his schedule.
Police told KNX-AM radio that witnesses reported to the California Highway Patrol that a gunman with one weapon began shooting randomly at traffic just before noon local time across from the two-year college. It is not yet clear what prompted the gunfire.
