Shovel Knight: Kickstarter Update Reveals 3DS Port of the Game to Include Miiverse and Streetpass
Kickstarter-funded game Shovel Knight will get a 3DS version of the game that includes stereoscopic, Miiverse, and a streetpass feature.
"Hey, Shovel fans! We are working on Shovel Knight every waking moment, and it's growing by leaps and bounds every day. We are currently in the midst of developing Polar Knight's stage, and the final stages of the game! After that, it's time to revise, polish, and balance. Currently we are also developing things like: Battles with the dastardly Black Knight, Designing the introduction to the game, Streetpass and Miiverse integration, 3DS stereoscopic eye-popping WOWness, Meeting with our Directors for a Day to implement their ideas," wrote developer Yacht Club Games on their Kickstarter.
The game is an ode to the 8-bit era of gaming, and others agreed, as the Kickstarter campaign raised $311,502 in just 30 days. All they were originally looking for was $75,000.

The game is slated for a winter release on the Wii U, 3DS, and Windows PC, according to Polygon.
Another successful Kickstart game is Hyper Light Drifter, which plays a lot like The Legend of Zelda series mixed with Diablo.
"Hyper Light Drifter is a 2D Action RPG in the vein of the best 8-bit and 16-bit classics with modernized mechanics and designs on a much grander scale," Heart Machine's site says.
The game started with a relatively small Kickstarter campaign for a video game, $27,000. However, the game took off online and now that number has grown to over $600,000 raised since its start on Sept. 12.
The game was originally slated to be an independent release for the computer, but now supporters of the game are clamoring for the game to be on the Wii U, which is a possibility if the game reaches $500,000. It has, but there has been no news on whether the port will happen.
