Simon Cowell Calls Off Engagement: 'I Don't Know if I Will Ever Get Married'
Simon Cowell told The Daily Mirror in an interview that he and his fiancée, Mezhgan Hussainy, are postponing their wedding plans and relationship indefinitely.
"It's quite a complicated relationship. We have had a break from each other, and we are still incredibly close," the "X Factor" creator and judge explained in the Sunday print of the U.K. paper. "I'm vulnerable. It's not on, it's not off, it's somewhere in the middle. I don't know if I will ever get married, but I am happy."
Cowell, 52, met Hussainy in 2003 on the set of "American Idol," where she worked as a makeup artist. The pair got engaged in February 2010.
"I'm smitten with Mezghan, I think she's the one," Cowell, who's typically crude in expression, happily told fellow British television personality Piers Morgan in a previous interview. "She's very special...you know when you've found somebody very special."
Cowell's relationship seems to have changed in the past few months, as he seemingly reneged on his past love induced comments.
"I have been pretty good about not talking about my private stuff, but I got caught up in the moment," Cowell told The Daily Mirror.
This is not the first relationship letdown for Cowell, after having invested much of his time.
Before Mezghan, Cowell split from his girlfriend of six years, commercial model Terri Seymour, in 2008.
When asked if she speaks to Julie Cowell, Simon Cowell's mother who allegedly still wants the two to get back together, Seymour said, "Yes, I do. She's actually in LA with my mom at the moment. We're all very close," azcentral.com reported.
"But Simon and I are just great friends. There's no chance of us getting back together. There's no doubt that Julie would love us to get back together, but it's never going to happen," Seymour added.
But Seymour seems to have predicted the fate of Cowell and Mezghan's relationship before her ex could.
"I honestly don't know if there will be a wedding. You know Simon could surprise all of us. Who knows," Seymour once told Britain's Star magazine of Cowell's engagement to Mezghan.
