Singer Nicole Nordeman's 'Slow Down' Song Perfectly Captures Moms' Thoughts in Time for Mother's Day
It's every parent's wish once their children begin to grow up that time would just stand still so they have a little more time with their sweet, innocent babies. Well worship artist Nichole Nordeman shares that sentiment and her new song "Slow Down" is a timely Mother's Day plea to children everywhere.
Since posting the video "Slow Down" on her Facebook page, Nordeman received more than 4.3 million views within just 72 hours. That number has since doubled and is certainly not living up to its title.
The music video features home footage of Nichole's family as well as from some of her close friends and their families. Singer Laura Story and her three children also make cameos throughout the video.
"Slow Down" is from her latest EP, The Unmaking, which released last August with Capitol CMG.
"I don't know of a more uttered or whispered phrase from a mother of any age, about her child of any age, than 'It's going by too fast,'" Nordeman shared in a statement with The Christian Post about why she penned this song. "I feel like I spend my life trying to slow time. Trying to celebrate the growth and milestones of my children, and then secretly daydreaming about building a time machine in my garage, so I can return to rocking my babies at midnight. If you've ever looked at your child running across a field, or striding across a graduation stage, or walking down the middle aisle of a church clutching a bouquet, you'll know why this song is special to me."
The video has certainly struck a chord with viewers around the world. Thousands of viewers on Facebook have shared their comments and support.
Laura from Kansas said, "My kids are both grown now, but this made me remember all those sweet moments with them when they were little. Thank you for this beautiful song!"
"I sat crying big blobby tears to this and then shared it on my business page (I run music/multi sensory classes for babies and toddlers). The shares, likes and reach has been huge....Thank you for giving us something to share that truly touches hearts," Janette from England wrote.
Michelle from Oklahoma added, "To those of us who have grown children, this is a precious reminder. To those of us with grandchildren and great or great, great, memories come in like warm blankets to cuddle in the night. Those with babes in arm, make your own memories to last. Like a tapestry, it grows in your heart."
Nordeman is currently on tour with Amy Grant and Ellie Holcomb on The Live Life Together Tour, presented by World Vision. For more information visit NicholeNordeman.com. The Unmaking EP can be found here on iTunes.
