'Sister Wives' Season 6 Release Date: Premieres Sept. 13, Meri and Kody's Divorce Becomes Final
The reality TV series about an American polygamist family "Sister Wives" will be airing the first episode of Season 6 on Sept. 13. Prior to the show's premiere however, the TLC network has released some video footage indicating the amount of drama that will happen within the family of one husband, his four wives and 17 children.
"Sister Wives" which started airing on TLC in 2010, follows the story of a polygamist family composed of Kody Brown and his four wives, and their children. Kody Brown is technically only legally married to one woman, Meri and the rest of his wives are "spiritual unions."
According to a report in International Business Times U.K., the new season will start off with the finalization of the divorce between Kody and Meri, after 25 years of marriage. Meri is Kody's legal wife and they have only one daughter. The video footage showed Meri talking to Robyn, one of the other wives, about the finalization of the divorce. Robyn thought this was strange because she felt Meri should have been talking to Kody instead.
However, as the footage goes on, Meri acknowledges that although she is sad about the whole thing, she is also happy that it is done because it will allow Robyn to marry Kody in order for the family to legally adopt Robyn's children from a previous relationship. Meri however will still remain spiritually married to Kody.
The upcoming season, aside from showing how the new marriage will change things, will also be looking at how the whole family will deal with the changes brought about by Robyn's pregnancy.
The report, however, cited rumors that Meri may not be taking the divorce and the baby news lightly, with reports that she has been distancing herself from the family. Meri did not offer her congratulations to Robyn and Kody after they made the baby announcement.
