Sisters Fight Armed Carjacker and Win, They're in Their 90s!

Two sisters, aged 93 and 94, successfully fought off an armed carjacker in New Jersey. While their story is gaining national attention, they have asked that all press keep their names private. The carjacker has been arrested and charged with robbery and carjacking.

Sergio Fernando Solorzano-Vasquez broke into the women's car while they were shopping on Sunday, Fox reported. Vasquez was armed with a knife at the time and threatened them when they returned to the vehicle. The elder sister took the lead and began hitting Vasquez while her sister took off and went for help.

"They say that they hold no animosity toward this guy but hope they never see him again," Detective Robert Miktus told Fox News. The two sisters have claimed that they don't see why their story is gaining such attention; they just did what they had to do.

Elderly people may be considered feeble by some, but don't let age fool you. In 2010, a 71-year-old Kansas woman defended herself by using a frying pan to beat her attacker. Kevin Funderburck, the assailant in that case, is seen with several bruises and wearing a neck brace in his mugshot.

He required a weekend in the hospital to recover from his initial injuries.

And in Minnesota last year, a 91-year-old man and his 82-year-old wife successfully defended themselves against a would-be attacker.

"He just stood there in that doorway, standing there with a shovel," Wally (last name unknown) told WCCO.

"I sat on the edge of the bed. He says, 'give me your hands! I'm going to tie you up!' And I said, 'No, I don't think so,'" his wife Betty explained.

After struggling with the robber, he ran off with absolutely nothing to show for it.

"I'm near 92 years old," Wally said. "So, I've lived my life. He's got his ahead of him, and it might not be too rosy, you know?"

"I'm just thankful that everything turned out OK," said Betty.
