Six GFA Students Attacked in India During Outreach

Six Bible Seminary students were forcibly abducted and beaten during their regular weekly outreach of distributing Gospel literature, preaching and praying for the sick. According to authorities, the six Gospel for Asia students were allegedly beaten up on Sunday by RSS workers in Kerala’s Alappuzha district in India.

As reported by Gospel for Asia, the students—Jaya, Yogendra, Narendra, Himansu, Kiran and Simon—were involved in their regular weekly outreach when they were surrounded by a small group of men that quickly grew into a crowd.

After mocking and slapping the students around, several in the group then dragged the believers into three-wheeled taxicabs and drove them to a secluded house where a crowd of men pulled the students out and began beating them.

"There were no less than five to six people beating each brother," reported a GFA field correspondent. The students were repeatedly kicked, punched and slapped, three to the point of unconsciousness.

The men then dragged the students back into the cabs, drove them to the bus station, pushed them out and left. The six young men then got on a bus and returned to the seminary, where they were immediately taken to the hospital to be treated for severe headaches and internal pain. Jaya was diagnosed with a broken left eardrum, in addition to bruising on his face.

"Please pray for these six dear young men—that they will completely recover from their injuries and remain close to the Lord,” said GFA President K.P. Yohannan. “I have no doubt that their suffering is not in vain, and He will use their lives to bear much fruit in the days to come.”

GFA reports that the six are now recovering at a nearby hospital from injuries sustained during the attack.

Meanwhile, authorities say no arrest had been made in connection with the incident.
