Skillet Lands Spot on Transformers 3 Soundtrack
It’s a good season for Christian rockers Skillet. They’ve just bagged a coveted spot on the soundtrack for the forthcoming "Transformers" installment, "Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon."
Details of that spot are to be released later.
On Sunday, they scooped a “Top Christian Album” award for Awake at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards Sunday night.
Awake was certified gold just 10 months after its release and spawned the band’s first No. 1 mainstream active rock hit with the track “Awake & Alive.”
The album was also Billboard’s No. 2 “Top Christian Album” and No. 9 “Top Alternative Album” of 2010. It peaked at No. 1 on the iTunes “Top Albums” chart and “Top Rock” chart.
Other hits off the album include “Monster” and “Hero,” which has been used by the NFL in their Sunday Night Football and NFL Weekend Kickoff promos.
And the album is still riding high in the charts, landing at No. 5 on the Current Contemporary Christian Soundscan chart last week and still sitting in the Billboard Top 200.
Skillet was also credited as one of the top five “Hardest Working Bands of 2010” by the concert site Songkick.
But there’s no stopping now. Anyone looking for an explosive live set is in for a treat this summer as Skillet is taking to the festival circuit.
