Skylar Laine 'Really Relieved' to Be Off of 'Idol'

"American Idol" audiences postponed the dreams of another contestant on last night's elimination episode. This time it was country singer Skylar Laine who went home, and she says she is "really relieved" with the results.

"I'm just really relieved right now," she told People. "No more stress. There's no pressure anymore. There's no pressure about songs anymore. I went out on a good note. I loved both the songs [I performed] and think I did [well] on both songs, and I'm very happy with both performances."

Laine sang "Fortunate Son" by Creedance Clearwater Revival and "Say You Love Me" by Dusty Springfield on Wednesday night's show. Unfortunately, American viewers were not thrilled with the performances; their votes were not enough to save the future starlet.

The judges, however, sang Laine's praises for her performances.

"Every time you get up, I believe you. That's the mark of a great singer," said Randy Jackson.

"You just took that song and you brought it to the 21st century," added Steven Tyler.

Judge Jennifer Lopez noted that Laine "just might" win the competition if she kept performing like she did during "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me." Lopez's words seem ironic now that Laine has been sent home.

"You can't be surprised- at all," Laine told People. "You never know what's going to happen week to week, especially seeing all the weird results this whole past season."

Laine was in the bottom two with Hollie Cavanagh, and judge Randy Jackson stated, "Both sang their faces off last night." And while that may be true, one had to be sent home.

"I told Hollie, 'I think you're going to be surprised,'" Laine explained. "She thought she was going to go home. She was in the same place twice before, and she thought it was her time to go home. I just looked at her."

Fans have voiced their support for Laine, even if she is no longer on the show.

"Don't worry too much about Skylar," wrote Mmcgrordy on People.com. "She's going to be just fine. She has a huge career ahead of her (think Christ Daughtry…eliminated at the same point of show…he did OK, huh?).
