SNES Classic Mini News: Hack Allows Users to Add More Games to the Console
Since conquering the threat of bankruptcy by making a spectacular comeback during this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Nintendo is determined to live up to the hype by introducing another console for those who would like to go on a more nostalgic road compared to the futuristic Switch. The SNES Classic Mini just recently hit the stands, and although it has 21 games on its own, a new hack is able to load up to 150 games in the library.
According to reports, the hack was discovered by programmer Alexey Avdyukhin, who released a program that would allow users to plug their SNES Classic Mini to their computers and download additional games, as well as software packages. Avdyukhin originally released it for the NES Classic, and he has already posted the updated version, as well as the instructions on a Reddit thread.
Furthermore, there a lot of titles that will be available once users have successfully loaded up the program in their SNES Classic Mini. Nostalgic games such as "Zombie Ate My Neighbors" is part of the list, aside from those already included in the original and official list. Fans were also reminded that the miniature console from Nintendo only has 300 megabytes of space, so they will have to make their choices carefully.
The Nintendo SNES Classic Mini includes "Super Mario World" and "F-Zero" when it is purchased. The gaming giant has received praise over their selection of games, but for those who would like to make the most out of the tiny console, the discovered hack is the perfect solution. Of course, fans are reminded downloading Nintendo ROMs on the internet is illegal. Furthermore, not all games may work properly, especially since it was not officially released by Nintendo.
The Nintendo SNES Classic Mini is now available for purchase for $79.99.
