'Sniper Ghost Warrior 3': Challenge Mode Brings New Level of Difficulty
Most first-person shooter games have similar elements, making it easy for veterans of the said genre to make quick work of missions therein. In "Sniper Ghost Warrior 3," however, the developers have formulated a way to make things even more stimulatingly difficult with Challenge Mode.
In this mode, the player is basically left to fend for himself. All assistance given by the game is removed, most noticeably the heads-up display (HUD), which means that the player needs to use everything he or she knows in surviving the challenge given. What's even trickier is enemies grow wearier, further upping the ante.
A 14-minute gameplay video is released to show exactly how this looks like when done. With common markers that help the player within the game gone, one will need to rely on skill and memory to outdo his or her opponents. The drone can only do so much, as using it will inform the player of the whereabouts of the threats but will remove the markers once it is called back.
With this mode, a player needs to practice his mastery of his weapons, stealth and strategies in order to successfully complete an operation. With this kind of handicap, it will prove to be a new experience that even masters of the genre will find hard yet interesting to do.
CI Games senior level designer Tomasz Pruski shares his enthusiasm about the newly introduced game mode on the official website: "Challenge Mode is one of my favorite features in Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, because of how much importance it places on the skills of the player rather than relying on the game for help."
The upcoming game delves into the common concept of first-person shooter titles, but with a twist that the player takes on three roles — a sniper, a ghost and a warrior. By mastering these three roles, he hopes to save his brother, who discovers an unexpected twist in the end.
"Sniper Ghost Warrior 3" launches on PlayStation 4 (PS4), Xbox One and PC platforms on April 25, 2017.
