'SNL' Anne Hathaway as Katie Holmes (VIDEO)

Anne Hathaway recently hosted "Saturday Night Live" for a third time and the actress received rave reviews, particularly for her accurate impression of actress Katie Holmes.

Dressed in a plain black dress that resembled something out of Holmes' closet, Hathaway appeared as Holmes in the sketch where the actress was being interviewed by talk show host Ellen Degeneres (played by "SNL's" Kate McKinnon).

"Great to be here, Ellen, it's great to be anywhere right now. If you read Us Weekly (magazine), you know that Suri and I spend every waking moment at the zoo," Hathaway said while mocking the paparazzi's obsession with Holmes and her daughter.

Hathaway, 29, also nailed one of Holmes' characteristic facial expressions by pulling the actresses' half smile. Fans flocked to Twitter where they commended the "The Dark Knight Rises" star.

"LMAO Anne Hathaway's Katie Holmes impression she always does on #SNL is bang on! :)" R.H. Rambling tweeted.

"Anne Hathaway won me over with that Katie Holmes impersonation," Arr Dee tweeted.

"With her Homeland and Katie Holmes parodies, Anne Hathaway may have replaced Justin Timberlake as my favorite SNL host," Nick Reshan tweeted.

Hathaway was also commended for impersonating Holmes in 2010 and although the actress insisted that her prior "SNL" skit was not aimed directly at Holmes, the sketch reportedly angered the actress and her now ex-husband Tom Cruise. Hathaway was seen displaying Holmes' half smile and constant head bobbing while she spoke.

"It wasn't really Katie Holmes; it was more [her "Dawson's Creek" character] Joey Potter," Hathaway told the Hollywood Reporter in 2010 after the sketch aired.

The sketch sparked reports of a boycott with various media outlets claiming that both Cruise, 50, and Holmes, 33, were boycotting the 2011 Academy Awards, which Hathaway hosted, over her "SNL" comedy act.

"Katie feels [she and Tom] were really supportive at a difficult time so she feels let down that Anne took to national TV to make fun of her," a source reportedly told Mail Online. "Anne didn't even warn her it was going to be on TV. The whole thing has left a sour taste with Tom."
