Snooki, JWoww Banned From Filming on Jersey Shore
Snooki and JWoww have officially been banned from filming on Pelican Island in the Jersey Shore. Town officials successfully stopped the duo from filming on the Island, citing zoning restrictions and the need to continue rebuilding after Hurricane Sandy.
The pair wanted to film the upcoming season of their show in the area, but residents immediately began protesting and worked hard to prevent MTV from moving into the area and taking over.
"It is in a residential zone and is in violation of their ordinance," attorney Ron Gasiorowski told the Asbury Park Press. "There are other areas of the township where this type of activity could take place in zones where this would be covered. This is nothing personal. We are just asking that they follow the law like everyone else."
The stars were not happy with the protests over their show, and Snooki took to Instagram to let her feelings be known about the situation.
"Adults are trying to ban my son, fiancé, and I from enjoying our summer at the shore," Snooki posted. "Grow up, get over yourself and move on. This is not how we should be treating one another. Absolutely sick and very sad. I pray for you. There's much bigger things to worry about in life than trying to ban my family from your neighborhood."
For the residents of Pelican Island, those "bigger things" include rebuilding after Hurricane Sandy blew through the area and left a huge amount of destruction in its wake. The main reason residents did not want the MTV stars moving into the area is the possible distraction that could come along with their presence, which would greatly slow down progress.
"This is nothing personal toward Mr. Loundy [owner of the home where the show would be filmed]. If she [Snooki] was really here for just a vacation, there would be no problem. But there is a lot of work being done here for the restoration of homes in the area from the hurricane," resident Lori Tyska told the Asbury Press.
