'Solo: A Star Wars Story' Latest News: 'It's a Gangster Movie,' says Cast Member Paul Bettany

"Solo: A Star Wars Story" will premiere next year, and a recent interview of Paul Bettany has got fans excited.

Bettany, who is perhaps best known for his role as JARVIS/Vision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), joined the cast in September. Michael Kenneth Williams was initially part of the cast, but a change in directors inadvertently cut him from the film. Bettany was brought in to replace Williams.

Recently, Bettany spoke to Total Film (via GamesRadar) and teased what fans can expect from the upcoming "Star Wars" Han Solo standalone movie, which stars Alden Ehrenreich as the young smuggler.

"It's Han Solo's story, and of course his story would be a caper," Bettany said. "On one level it's a gangster movie. That's really interesting, because it's within the canon but really different. It's f------ Han Solo!"

The actor is understandably excited to work on a huge franchise like "Star Wars." He expressed his glee even further by recalling the time he came across an R2 unit, as well as revealing a detail about his own character.

"Suddenly, I'm an intergalactic gangster and I'm walking down some stairs and an R2 unit goes by with some champagne, and I'm like... [drops jaw] I had that feeling that I hadn't had since I was first on a film set - I was a little boy doing the best job in the world," he said.

Earlier this year, Ron Howard was brought in to replace directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller as the duo reportedly had creative differences with Lucasfilm. Howard has since been busy doing reshoots.

But, despite the sudden change in direction, star Thandie Newton previously assured fans that the movie would still be "dope" and "cool." Woody Harrelson, who plays Han's mentor of sorts, also described the film as "pretty great."

"Solo: A Star Wars Story" is scheduled to hit U.S. cinemas on May 25, 2018.
