'Solo: A Star Wars Story' Release Date, News: Thandie Newton Teases 'Dope' and 'Cool' Standalone Film

"Solo: A Star Wars Story" may have gone through a couple directors, but that does not mean the movie will not be a great one.

This much was teased by "Westworld" actress Thandie Newton, who is playing a secret role in the Han Solo standalone film. While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Newton revealed that, while original directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were replaced by Ron Howard, their work is still a huge part of the movie.

"Apart from the initial shock and feeling bad for [Lord and Miller] not being able to finish their work, their work is everywhere in it," she said. "Ninety percent of my stuff is with them. And it certainly wasn't about, 'Oh we have to start again and do it all over.'"

Moreover, Newton said that having three directors work on the film may even be an advantage because it means getting more input and help. She also teased that the movie is both "dope" and "cool," adding that the cast is stellar.

This sentiment was echoed by Woody Harrelson, who plays Han's mentor of sorts, while speaking to Yahoo Entertainment

"Everybody who worked on that film was really cool... I get the feeling that it's gonna be pretty great," he said.

The actor also revealed that he initially was not going to be a part of the film because he wanted to go home and take some time off. However, he was convinced by producer Allison Shearmur to accept the role.

"I actually turned it down at first. And then, I ended up doing it," he said.

Apart from Alden Ehrenreich playing the young smuggler, Donald Glover taking on the role of a young Lando Calrissian, and Harrelson's turn as Beckett, not much else is known about the characters other cast members are portraying. Emilia Clarke is playing the female lead, while Newton is rumored to be playing an Imperial officer.

"Solo: A Star Wars Story" will premiere in U.S. theaters on May 25, 2018.
