Song Joong-Ki Instagram Post: New Photo Reignites Speculation on 'Descendants of the Sun 2'
The South Korean television series "Descendants of the Sun" aired last year, and it was such a global hit that news about its potential sequel have been popping up ever since the show went off the air.
Recently, speculations of "Descendants of the Sun 2" surfaced again after lead actor Song Joong-Ki posted a photo of him holding a toy gun on his Instagram account. The image appears to have been from one of the memorable scenes of "Descendants of the Sun."
The photo came from one of the earlier episodes of "Descendants of the Sun" where a young waif stole something and Song Joong-Ki's character Captain Yoo Si Jin and the character portrayed by Jin Goo stopped the thief by using guns from a toy store. This brought out hopes from the fans that the actor will be appearing in the drama series' rumored sequel.
It is not the first time that Song Joong-Ki posted photos that fueled rumors about his involvement in "Descendants of the Sun 2." In the past, Song Joong-Ki posted a picture of himself donning an army uniform he used to wear in the original TV drama.
Song Joong-Ki's role in the Korean drama series catapulted the actor to international fame, and because of the show's popularity, conflicting reports have been surfacing about a TV sequel as well as a movie version.
There are rumors claiming that Song Joong-Ki and co-star Song Hye-Kyo would no longer be involved in the planned sequel because of their busy schedules. However, there are also speculations suggesting that the two South Korean actors will be joining the sequel as a married couple with children.
Recently, reports have also surfaced that South Korean actor Lee Min Ho will be joining the cast of "Descendants of the Sun 2." However, this rumor remains unverified as well.
There is no official statement yet from the showrunner of "Descendants of the Sun" about Song Joong-Ki's involvement in the rumored sequel.
