'Sonic Forces' Gameplay News: SEGA Shows Off New Classic Stage Casino Forest

Just when players thought "Sonic Forces" could no longer pull a nostalgic string, it does. This time, it is in the form of a casino Classic Sonic stage.

Officially called the Casino Forest, this new stage actually features ancient ruins that villain Eggman decided to transform into a casino. More importantly, it is the embodiment of old-school Sonic.

While a casino-themed level sounds like fun, it will not be as simple as that when it gets the "Sonic Forces" treatment with "perilous traps" waiting for players.

In the gameplay trailer embedded below, Sonic traverses through the neon lights, pinball flippers and slot machines as well as springs and jumpers — things a casino level is notorious for — as retro music plays in the background, really taking players back to the old days.

The "Sonic Forces" gameplay footage also shows that slot machines, apart from ramping up the difficulty of the level, also provide players the opportunity to get more coins.

Casino levels are known to be extremely challenging (to some, the fact that they are difficult to clear adds to the fun and appeal of this type of stages) and the Casino Forest in "Sonic Forces" will not be any different.

Fans were first treated to a casino level in the 1991 game "Sonic the Hedgehog" in the form of the Spring Yard Zone. Come "Sonic the Hedgehog 2," players got to explore the Casino Night Zone.

Apart from Casino Forest, SEGA also unveiled a story trailer showing Sonic and company joining forces to take down Eggman before he can fully take over the world.

The studio also announced the free add-on "Episode Shadow," which adds three new stages that center on the fan-favorite red and black hedgehog and 10 Modern Sonic stages while also uncovering details about the mysterious new villain Infinite.

"Sonic Forces" will be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC on Nov. 7.
