Sony to Launch Water-Resistant Ice Cream Sandwich Smartphone
Sony is planning to launch the Xperia acro S that packs some interesting features such as Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich and water resistant technology.
The Xperia acro S's display is covered by a shatterproof scratch-resistant glass that also supports wet finger tracking technology. This also appeared on Sony's Xperia active.
The smartphone covers the IP57 rating requirements for dust and water resistance.
Other specifications for the Xperia acro S include a 4.3-inch HD Bravia Reality display with 720p resolution, HDMI output, a Qualcomm 1.5GHz dual-core processor, a 720p front camera, NFC, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, a microSD slot, and smart watch compatibility.

The smartphone als has a 720p 1.3-megapixel camera in the front.
The Xperia go is another device that Sony is releasing that is water resistant.
Waterproof and water resistant are quite different in terms of meaning, however.
A smartphone that is waterproof can be submerged in water and not take any damage. It will also continue to work while under the water.
A water resistant device will withstand a certain amount of contact with water such as rain, or a spill.
Sony has demonstrated the water resistant technology featured on the Xperia acro S and the Xperia go in videos by spilling water on the front of the Xperia go.
Other specifications on the Xperia go include a barometric sensor, a NOVATHOR U8500 1 GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM, 8GB of internal memory, a microSD slot, an HVGA 3.5-inch reality display and a Bravia engine with wet finger tracking.
