Sony Xperia X Premium Rumors: First Phone With HDR Display
Japanese smartphone manufacturer Sony recently said goodbye to its Sony Xperia Z line, when it announced a new line of phones called Xperia X at the Mobile World Congress last February. The company unveiled three devices – the Sony Xperia X Performance, an upper high-end device, the Sony Xperia X, a mid-range device and the Sony Xperia XA, which is the smallest and cheapest device among the three. Now, according to a report in Gadgets 360, the company may be introducing a fourth phone to the series, called the Sony Xperia X Premium which is rumored to be the first phone to have High Dynamic Range (HDR) display.
The report cited inside sources familiar with the company who claimed that it will be unveiling its first ever HDR display smartphone. The Xperia X Premium is also touted to be the successor of the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium.
Sony has been known to manufacture phones that are the first of its kind, as with the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium which was their first smartphone to have a 4K display with a resolution of 2,160 x 3,840 pixels. The Xperia X Premium is said to be its upgraded version, this time with an HDR display.
With an HDR display, the rumored device will have 1,000 nits of brightness that can go up to a maximum brightness of 1,300 nits. It will also come with 1,024 color shade of the three primary colors and will carry support for displaying over 1.07 billion colors, which is much bigger than current display technology which can only support up to 16 million in color depth.
Aside from the display details, the rumored device is said to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor paired with 3 GB of RAM, according to another report in GSM Arena. It is expected to have a USB Type-C connector for fast charging and data transfer.
