Sony Xperia XZ1 2018 Specs, Release Date: Leak Reveals Powerful Next-Gen Model Saddled by a Last-Gen Feature
Another one of Sony's flagships for next year becomes the center of a brand-new leak. This time it is the purported successor to the Xperia XZ1.
The new leak comes in the form of a specs sheet shared on Reddit. The device is not specifically referred to as the new Sony Xperia XZ1, but is instead labeled by its model number: H8216.
However, the specs and features uncovered in the leak make it appear that the device in question will be the next-generation Sony Xperia XZ1.
As to what the device has to offer, expect lag-free snappy performance with the handset equipped with Qualcomm's next big thing — the Snapdragon 845 processor — paired with 4 GB of random-access memory (RAM) and 64 GB of storage.
The Sony Xperia XZ1 successor will also come with a 5.48-inch display with Full high-definition (HD) resolution, which is slightly bigger than the screen found on the current iteration. Interestingly, the dimensions of the device remain unchanged at 148 × 73.4 × 7.4 mm.
Sony is expected to officially join the bezel-less trend next year and is set to introduce a brand-new premium design for its 2018 offerings that feature minimal to no bezels.
The follow-up to the Sony Xperia XZ1 should be one of the devices to get the treatment, per GSM Arena, although the publication cautions that it is unclear yet if there is enough bezel to remove to warrant a 0.3 increase in the display size.
On the imaging side of things, the handset will be equipped with a pair of 12-megapixel cameras on the back while the selfie needs will be handled by a 15 MP snapper on the front.
The next-gen Sony Xperia XZ1 will have Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and will keep the lights on with a 3,130 mAh battery with Quick Charge support.
Despite all the high-end features, Sony is apparently going with a microUSB port on the Sony new Xperia XZ1 instead of the USB Type-C.
