Sony Xperia Z Release Date Set for March
The Sony Xperia release date is set for March in the U.K.
Various smartphone retailers including Clove and Phones4U announced that they will begin selling the 5-inch Sony smartphone in March.
The device will also be available through the U.K.'s major carriers such as Vodafone. However, that carrier has not given a specific date for release either.
Clove posted that the Unlocked SIM-free version of the Xperia Z will be £528 at launch, which is equivalent to $847.76.
The Sony Xperia Z specs were finally revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this week.
The new Sony flagship smartphone will feature a 5-inch, 1080p display NFC (near-field-communications), 13-megapixel main camera and a water-resistant exterior.
Other specifications on the Xperia Z include a 1.5GHz asynchronous quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor with 2GB RAM, one- touch mirroring and 4G LTE.
Sony also introduced the public to the new Xperia ZL, which is another high-end smartphone with the same display camera and processor as the Xperia Z. It comes with one-touch mirroring and 4G LTE and has a maximized display with the highest ratio of screen to phone size.
The company will also be releasing the Xperia E sometime this year.
Carphone Warehouse stated that the smartphone will be arriving on shelves the second month of the year and that it will also start carrying the handset around the same time.
Sony recently unveiled the Xperia E as its latest midrange addition to the Xperia lineup.
Specifications on the device include a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a 3.5-inch 480 x 320 touchscreen display, a 3.2-megapixel rear facing camera, 4GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, 1530mAh battery, and Sony's mobile software that includes Walkman apps and its Timescape user interface.
