Sony Xperia Z3 News and Updates: Smartphone Not Getting Android 7.0 Nougat; Other Sony Devices Will Do [DETAILS]
Sony Xperia Z3 Will Not Get Android 7.0 Nougat
The Android 7.0 Nougat or Android N is reportedly coming in a few weeks to many Sony smartphones, but not to the Sony Xperia Z3.
Many smartphone companies are set to announce which of their devices will be having the Android N update. Sony has announced their list, but it did not include the Xperia Z3 despite being only less than two years old since it was out in the market.
Sony Announces Devices Getting Android N Update
In their blog, Sony wrote that they will be rolling out the Android N update on the following devices: Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia X, Xperia XA, Xperia X Performance and Xperia XA Ultra.
The company noted that these devices may not have the same release date for the Android N as it takes time. The availability matters as well as the market and operator, so there may be some exceptions to the devices mentioned.
Sony Xperia Z3 Not Included or Listed Later?
In the blog, Sony did not mention the Xperia Z3 device despite being only less than two years out in the market. Released last Sept. 2014, The Verge points out that it doesn't make sense for the Xperia Z3 not to get the Android N update when the iPhone 5, released in 2012, is getting the latest iOS 10.
However, XDA pointed out that the Sony Xperia Z3 may be listed by Sony a bit later on. If there is a high demand by Xperia Z3 users for an Android N update, Sony may relent, but it may first prioritize their smartphones that are doing better.
What is inside the Android 7.0 Nougat Update?
The Android 7.0 Nougat will bring about over 250 new features to the devices. According to the Official Android Blog, some of the highlights included in the update are better battery conservation with the Doze feature, Direct Reply to notifications, Quick Switch by double taps and multi-locale supports for people in different areas.
The Android N will also have support for VulkanTM and Daydream. The new update will keep devices more secure with File-based encryption, Direct Boot and seamless updates. Additionally, there will be 72 new emojis to be added, making it 1,500 new emojis for Android phones.
