Sony Xperia Z4 Release Date, Specs News: Features Rumors Circulate Despite MWC 2015 Silence
Tech fans were expecting that Sony would finally announce the Sony Xperia Z4 at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona early this month. Though the company launched the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet, the much hyped smartphone was nowhere to be seen.
With the Z4 a no-show at MWC, rumors suggesting that Sony is moving from two flagships a year to just one started to circulate immediately. Others speculate that the Z4's release will be pushed back to the summer, and moreover, there are rumors suggesting that Sony is going to scrap the Z4 altogether as the company is looking to exit the smartphone market.
However, the Z4 Tablet isn't set to launch until June this year, which gives Sony a lot of time to announce its next flagship phone. According to a trusted source of PCAdvisor, the Sony Xperia Z4 would not be released until September 2014. If this is true, then the Xperia Z4 could be unveiled at IFA 2015, which runs from Sept. 4 to 9 in Berlin.
According to Android Origin, the Sony Xperia Z4 will be a 5.5-inch phablet with a Quad HD screen which translates to a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The smartphone will also reportedly take a lot of its design cues from its predecessors, but it will be dust and water proof. Leaked renders of the device show a rectangular design with square corners and glass front and rear panels.
The phone is expected to have a 2.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor and 4GB of RAM. Storage will be set at 32GB, which can be expanded with a microSD card.
The phone will reportedly run on Android Lollipop and will have a 20.7MP rear facing camera. The Xperia Z4 is expected to come with a dedicated amp to make music sound even better.
The Sony Xperia Z4 is expected to cost $630 off contract once it goes on sale.
