Sophia Grace Music Video Found 'Disturbing' by Some
Sophia Grace, the little girl who made headlines singing Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" on Youtube in 2011, finally has a music video of her own, with some critics citing the video as disturbing.
The now 10-year-old Internet sensation who grew in popularity thanks to multiple appearances on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" released her song "Girls Just Gotta Have Fun" on Friday.
The video, directed by Matt Alonzo, who has worked with Soulja Boy, Ice Cube, and Pitbull, has already gained about 2 million views in it's first three days.
Sophia usually does covers in her home, but this time she went all out with a princess throne, sun glasses, a pink SUV, and a house party while she alternated between singing and rapping.
Also in the video is her silent partner in crime, Rosie, who is in all the videos with Sophia, but never says anything.
Critics are not too keen on the video, saying the girl was probably too young to be performing such material.
"It's one thing to have a guest gig on Ellen, but this feels a bit exploitative to us," one user wrote on The Inquisitr blog.
One of the more offending parts is Sophia's flirting with an older boy as she sings, "please don't get your feelings hurt because you'll get your turn."
A poll on TooFab.com seems to go against critics' sentiments, with by 67 percent voting the video as harmless, while only 33 percent found it disturbing.
Some feel this video is better than the covers because in "Super Bass" she raps lines like: "He pop bottles and he got the right kind of build / He cold, he dope, he might sell coke / He always in the air, but he never fly coach."
When Ellen initially asked the singer about if she knew what she was singing, Sophia responded, "No, I just learned the words really quickly, and I like the video because it's got a motorbike made of ice, and pink! Everything is pink, I just love pink!"
