Southampton had an away game against Newcastle United and they were down 2-1 at one point after Graziano Pelle's goal was cancelled by Papiss Cisse and the Magpies eventually got the lead with a goal by Georginio Wijnaldum.

Fortunately, Shane Long found the back of the net in the 79th minute to salvage a point away from home.

Now that they play at home they are hoping that they can get maximum points against a tough team in Everton.

Meanwhile, Everton played Watford at home in their first game and they traded goals to end in a 2-2 draw as well.

Ross Barkley leveled things for Everton after a goal from Miguel Layun gave Watford the lead.

Odion Ighalo restored the one-goal advantage for Watford but Arouna Kone scored with only four minutes left in the game to tie things up again.

Neither team got any more goals in as they shared the points in a tough match.

Everton are still locked in a battle to keep John Stones as Chelsea are eagerly trying to lock up the Englishman defender but it should not give them any reason to be distracted against Southampton.

In their last four meetings, Southampton and Everton have split their clashes, with the home team winning in all four instances. With Southampton hosting this time, expect them to be favoured to win. On the other hand, look for Everton to break that streak in order for them to lock in their first win of the season.
