Southern California Earthquake Prompts Celebrity Reactions

A 4.4-magnitude earthquake hit Southern California Monday, causing a number of celebrities to hop on Twitter to react and share their experiences.

The quake occurred at 6:25 a.m. Monday with a depth of about 5 miles. A number of aftershocks followed, including one with a 2.7 magnitude, according to Fox News.

A number of celebrities shared their fear, status updates and experiences with fans on the social networking website.

"Ugh ... Hate waking up that way -still shook," actress Jessica Alba tweeted.

Actress Hilary Duff made sure to let people know that her family was safe.

"Good morning guys! We are all safe," Duff tweeted. "Hope everyone else is too not the most pleasant way to wake up with everything shaking."

The New York native rapper Nicki Minaj went on to detail her experience even further.

"This earthquake just made me re-evaluate my entire life. lol," she tweeted. "I swear it felt like the entire house was picked up n thrown down the block."

Another rapper, Meek Mill, said he was in a recording studio when he felt the ground shaking.

"(Expletive) my flow up in the booth, I thought a ghost touched me! Lol," the Philadelphia native tweeted. "I ran up out that booth so fast … we ain't use 2 no earthquakes."

Radio host Ryan Seacres, also tied his earthquake experience to music.

"Earthquake felt while playing happy by pharrell on radio," he tweeted.

Actor Scott Foley let people know he was safe and did not seem too shaken up by the events.

"Safe. All good. Thanks," he tweeted. "Big enuf to wake and shake but not too bad."

Lucy Jones, a USGS seismologist, told KABC-TV that while places like Los Angeles was no stranger to earthquakes it was a larger magnitude than what the region felt in some time.

"It's not that large by California terms. It's the size of earthquake we have across the state once every couple of months," Jones said. "But we haven't had one like this in LA for quite a while."
