James Bond 'Spectre' Movie Release Date, Spoilers: Daniel Craig Talks About 'Sort of Starting Again'

When Daniel Craig stepped in for the role of Britain's most iconic spy, James Bond, criticism definitely flew everywhere. It is true that Craig's vibe is certainly a lot more different than that of the previous Bond actors. There is definitely a sense of roughness in Craig's demeanor, which made a lot of people skeptic on how he will fit in well in one of the debonair fictional men in movie history.

According to News Australia, in a recent interview with GQ Australia, Craig was definitely aware of the doubters in the beginning, but was not fazed about it as he decided to take on the well-admired character in a worry-free manner. He shares, "When I first started these movies I didn't know any better — I was naive and didn't worry about a great deal, I just got on with it."

However, unlike many other actors who treat recurring roles like putting on a well-worn pair of shoes, for Craig, the shoes seem to got tighter for every movie. Craig reveals, "As they went on, the pressure built." He added that everyone had expectations of him to fail and questioned each film after the other. He goes, "People thought Casino would bomb, it was a massive success and they were like, 'What are you going to do now?' Quantum, OK, it was difficult and a huge amount of pressure, but then Skyfall, again, 'what are you going to do now?' Well, we got Sam (Mendes, director) on board and it suddenly became a bit easier ..."

To say "Skyfall" was a box-office hit would be an understatement, considering how it had earned a billion dollars on a $283 million budget. Even to this day, Craig could not fathom the idea of how much success it had attained. Because of this, it's not a surprise that "Spectre," the 24th film in the franchise, has got big shoes to fill in, but Craig seems to have full faith on Sam Mendes' directorial abilities.

He told the magazine how Mendes approached the new movie, "What we did with Skyfall, or what Sam successfully did with Skyfall, was, in spite of the fact we had quite a sad story with the demise of M (Judi Dench), the end of the movie was sort of a beginning — we reintroduced Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) and Q (Ben Whishaw) and we have ourselves a new M in Ralph Fiennes. We sort of swept the boards and started again."

Fans look forward to the result of Craig and Mendes' hard work when "Spectre" hits theaters later this month, Oct. 26.
