'Speechless' Season 1 Episode 19 Spoilers: New ABC Family Comedy to be Featured at This Year's PaleyLive Spring Season
ABC Television Network's new family comedy series "Speechless" has been selected as one of four outstanding new series that will be participating in this year's PaleyLive Spring Season.
The upcoming event aims to offer fans that rare chance to interact with the cast and creative teams behind their favorite television programs in exclusive events that are scheduled to be held at The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills from March to May. These programs are selected for their contribution in expanding the society's understanding of the cultural, creative and social significance of television, while at the same time fulfilling their goal to entertain.
"Speechless" tells the story of the DiMeo family whose eldest son JJ (Micah Fowler) has cerebral palsy. And in keeping up with its genre, JJ's condition does not stop him from doling out his biting wit and sense of humor through his communication board. The series deals with the everyday struggles and successes of a family with a special needs child laced with culturally aware humor and the occasional snark on society's reactions to an adult with special needs.
"The programs selected for our PaleyLive events represent the best television has to offer and tackle today's most compelling themes and issues," Maureen J. Reidy, president and CEO of The Paley Center for Media, said via the official press release for the event, further sharing that the programs they have selected are those which would spark the most entertaining and informative conversations that have come to define PaleyLive events.
"Speechless" is set to take the PaleyLive stage on Tuesday, May 9 at 7 p.m. PDT.
Meanwhile, ABC has yet to release information about "Speechless" episode 19, but the show has been scheduled to return on air on Wednesday, April 5 at 8:30 p.m. EDT.
There will likely be more conversations about Kenneth's (Cedric Yarbrough) weekend sideline as a supermarket manager, which he has chosen to take over a higher paying job so that he can still stay as JJ's aide on weekdays. There will also be more instances of JJ showing the world and everyone else that just because he has special needs, it doesn't mean that he can be pushed aside like an object and not take a stand.
