'Speechless' Season 1 News: What We Know So Far, Minnie Driver to Star in the Show, Cast, Plot and Release Date

Minnie Driver will star in the upcoming television series titled "Speechless". The show will focus on a family with a child who has special needs.
Meet the Family
The show will star Micah Fowler who will portray as JJ, a child who is nonverbal. Fowler has cerebral palsy in real life. He made his film debut in "Labor Day" where he co-starred with Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin. JJ's mother will be played by Minnie Driver while John Ross Bowie will be Driver's onscreen husband. The family will also consist of Kyla Kenedy as the middle child and Mason Cook as the youngest child.

Minnie Driver has already portrayed roles in films and has been nominated for the Academy Award for the Best Supporting Actress. It was for the movie "Good Will Hunting" where she starred alongside Robin Williams, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.
John Ross Bowie, on the other hand, has also starred in the TV sitcom "The Big Bang Theory" with the role of Barry Kripke.
Kyla Kenedy is also not new to TV series since she was a part of "Raising Izzie" and had recurring roles as Mika Samuels in "The Walking Dead". Mason Cook, on the other hand, played the role of Cecil Wilson in Spy Kids 4.
This time, all of them will be working together as a family for the upcoming show, "Speechless." They will go on with their everyday life and deal with the challenges that come along with it. One of their main challenges is to deal with their daily routine while attending to their nonverbal child.
The Production
ABC Network's description of the show is as follows: "As Maya fights injustices both real and imagined, the family works to make a new home for themselves, and searches for just the right person to give JJ his voice,'"
"Speechless" is created by Scott Silveri. Executive producers of the show are Jake Kasdan and Melvin Mar. The show is directed by Christine Gernon.
This will be the first gig of the show and there will be more to it once it finally kicks off. It's a show that is worth looking forward to. A lot will be expected from the show since it gives the cast challenging roles of bringing in comedy to a slice-of-life series.
"Speechless" will premiere its first season on September 21, 2016.
