'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Movie News: Will Michael Keaton Play the Lead Villain in the Movie?

Now that things are fast taking shape for the standalone movie of Spider-Man with the announcement of its title as "Spider-Man: Homecoming," one of the most common questions asked by the fans of the web-slinging superhero is who the main villain Spider-Man will take on in the character's upcoming film feature. However, the answer to the question may be soon revealed as the rumor of Michael Keaton's participation as the villain in the movie is getting louder and louder.

According to a source as reported by Variety, Keaton and Marvel are still in the negotiating table for a possible return of Keaton on the superhero genre movies, specifically as the villain in "Spider-Man: Homecoming." If both parties reach an agreement, then Tom Holland's Spider-Man character can already have a bad guy to battle with in the film reboot of the character.

Keaton's rumored participation as the main villain in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" will not only mark his return in the superhero genre movies; it will mark his switch to Marvel from DC, too. In 1989, the actor top-billed Tim Burton's "Batman" movie as he donned the suit of the Caped Crusader. The movie earned $411,348,924 worldwide.

On the other hand, apart from Keaton, it is also rumored that another character from Marvel will also be a minor villain in "Spider-Man: Homecoming," Vulture. Slasfilm cited a report of Birth.Movies.Death, saying that the character will be part of the movie, although he won't necessarily be the main antagonist. According to Slashfilm, the website doesn't have a reputation of mentioning something just for the sake of having something to talk about. Hence, it is very likely that Holland's Spider-Man will also take on the winged villain in the movie.

Meanwhile, after unveiling the logo of the upcoming "Spider-Man: Homecoming" logo, Holland said that the movie is titled as such because the superhero is finding its way home, figuratively, in the movie. It can also be interpreted in a way that, after a while being under Sony's ward, the character is now back in Marvel via its Marvel Cinematic Universe, thanks to a sharing agreement between the two studios.
