'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Release Date, Production News: Reshoots Kick Off in Atlanta

Three months until the release of Marvel's "Spider-Man: Homecoming," production has started its reshoots. This was confirmed by 26-year-old actress Laura Harrier, who is set to portray the new love interest of Peter Parker (Tom Holland), Liz Allan, in the upcoming film.

Years ago, a film would only undergo reshoots when troubles plague its production. These days, however, most film studios take reshoots as part of the editing process. In recent years, reshooting some scenes has become part and parcel of every production, having its own share of allocation in the overall budget.

As for "Spider-Man: Homecoming," principal photography kicked off sometime in June 2016 and wrapped up in October of the same year. Right now, the production is reportedly busy reshooting and adding new scenes as part of the filmmaking process.

Recently, Harrier revealed via Reddit that she was back in Atlanta, Georgia for the reshoots. The actress confirmed on social media that they are now doing extra filming for the upcoming movie, probably for better angles or new scenes. However, the actress did not elaborate as to who among the cast members had also returned for the reshoots.

The cast of "Spider-Man: Homecoming" includes Holland, Robert Downey Jr., Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Donald Glover, Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Logan Marshall-Green, Bokeem Woodbine and Marisa Tomei.

The movie centers on Holland as Spider-Man, who made his first appearance on "Captain America: Civil War." Based on the official synopsis, "Spider-Man: Homecoming" will follow Peter Parker as he navigates his newfound identity as the web-slinging superhero. After being thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, he returns home to try to fall back into his normal daily routine. However, everything he holds most important to will be threatened when the Vulture (Keaton) arrives.

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" hits theaters on July 7.
