'Spider-Man' reboot movie news 2015: Andrew Garfield talks about the new Spider-Man

As many comic book fans know, "Spider-Man" will be undergoing another reboot. This has caused mixed reactions from fans as many of them have already come to love Andrew Garfield being the new web-slinging superhero. It is also quite uncommon that a reboot was announced so quickly just a year after "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" was shown in theatres, although the last film's moderate total gross may have been an issue.

The chosen actor to take on the new role of Spider-Man is Tom Holland. The casting was officially announced last June 23. The 19-year-old actor is an English dancer who successfully debuted playing lead in the "Billy Elliot the Musica: l at the Victoria Palace Theatre, London. He had also starred in the 2012 movie "The Impossible."

Since the news broke out, not much have been heard from Garfield. However, just recently, the actor spoke with ETC Canada at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Annual Grants Banquet, seemingly in good spirits as he spoke only of praises for the young actor. He is quoted saying, "It feels lovely, especially because Tom Holland is a really, really great actor. He was in this movie The Impossible and he was just this incredibly powerful, sensitive, just wonderful young actor. And [he's] a dancer, so his body's the right [form]." Garfield also mentions how he enjoys to just be a part of the audience again as he goes on sharing, "I'm just really excited to just be a fan again as opposed to bearing the weight of it."

Following Garfield's kind words, is Jon Watts, the film's director, who also talks highly of Holland. He recently told Entertainment Weekly how he felt that Holland would perfectly represent the characteristics and physical abilities needed for the role. "He can be a real high school student. That's why people love Spider-Man. He's the most grounded, relatable of superheroes. And Tom can really do that. He captures that," he also adds, "He can do a standing back-flip. He's perfect."

Screenrant reports that his decision to reboot Spider-Man initially rooted from the need to have a younger character who is still in high school, which of course no longer matches with the timeline of the last Spider-Man movie in which Garfield starred in. Also as the new Spider-Man is being molded to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this means that the character would need to start young so he can play the role for a longer time in the future.
