'Spiderman' Movie News: Iron Man to Mentor Spiderman in Film's Reboot?
With Spiderman's inclusion in the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War," the web-spurting and slinging superhero is now officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Hence, it is now easier for other members of the MCU to cross over to his films and vice versa. As the character is getting a reboot via his solo film slated for a release next year, there is a character from MCU that may just join him in the movie and will mentor him. According to the latest rumor, Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man will now be heading to the "Spiderman" movie to mentor Tom Holland's Peter Parker/Spiderman character.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, as reported by Heroic Hollywood, Marvel head Kevin Feige confirmed that other superheroes will be featured in Holland's solo "Spiderman" movie, especially those from "Captain America: Civil War."
"He is in the universe now, and the fun of the universe is that characters go back and forth," said Feige.

While no details on who particular superheroes will appear in next year's "Spiderman" movie, rumor has it that it will be no less than Downey's Iron Man. It can be recalled that Downey said in his interview in the past months that no solo "Iron Movie" is in sight. With this, various speculations came out that Downey's Tony Stark character may no longer wear the iron suit and will just focus on mentoring somebody younger, who, eventually, will be the new Iron Man.
If the speculation that Tony Stark will assume a mentoring role to younger superheroes, perhaps, Marvel thinks the best way for him to be introduced to that role is via Holland's "Spiderman" movie. After all, as seen on the trailer of "Captain America: Civil War," Spiderman takes the side of Iron Man, snatching away Captain America's shield at Iron Man's cue.
Heroic Hollywood opined that, should the rumor be true, the move will be beneficial for both Holland and Downey: Holland gets to be supported by an actor who has raked in billions of dollars for Marvel via his "Iron Man" movies, and Downey gets to reach out to younger and newer fans and will have the opportunity to be included in more Marvel movies.
However, at this point in time, exciting as the news may sound, Spiderman fans can only speculate until the veracity of the reports is finally confirmed.
Meanwhile, before Spiderman fans can see Holland as the web-slinging and spurting superhero via his solo film, they can first catch him on "Captain America: Civil War," opening this May 6. On the other hand, "Spiderman" is slated for a July 7, 2017 release date.
