'Splatoon 2' Gameplay News: Latest Update Brings Back Kelp Dome; Nintendo Previews Upcoming Stage, Weapon
Nintendo has recently brought back the popular Kelp Dome to "Splatoon 2." Meanwhile, they have also revealed some details on the upcoming stages to the game.
"Splatoon 2" is one of the latest games released on the Nintendo Switch. Much like its first release, the game is played from a third-person shooter perspective where players are placed in teams of four. That means one game session accommodates up to eight players.
The Kelp Dome was one of the favorite stages introduced in the first "Splatoon" game in 2015. And, according to Nintendo, they are bringing it back "by popular demand."
In Nintendo's official announcement, the Kelp Dome was described as a "modernized agricultural facility." With that said, plants grow inside the structure at any given time – a characteristic that was also present back in its 2015 debut.
Like the first version of the Kelp Dome, the one introduced in "Splatoon 2" was also surrounded by pieces of glass that are ink-resistant.
The basic layout of the Kelp Dome will also feel familiar to players who have experienced the first game. "You can make your way to the center by circling around the perimeter or you can take the high road on the grated catwalks to get straight into the action," Nintendo added.
However, the developers have also added new features to the Kelp Dome in "Splatoon 2." There are new grates within the dome which players can "slip through" while chasing an opponent or avoiding a hit. But they are warned to stay away from the catwalks since there is not much cover in these areas.
Nintendo is also gearing up to add more stages to "Splatoon 2" soon, such as the Snapper Canal. As the name suggests, this stage features a river right in the middle of the structure, which serves as a boundary giving two teams their own bases in a way.
Players can also expect an upcoming weapon called the Tenta Brella, which is more of a defensive piece of equipment. Its name sounds like tent and umbrella for a reason since it shields the player as the weapon opens like an umbrella. However, it is much bigger in size like a tent that can cover several people at once.
"Splatoon 2" is now available on the Nintendo Switch.
