St. James Set to Narrate NBC Worship Special
Grammy Award winning singer Rebecca St. James will narrate an hour-long documentary to air this month and next month on NBC. The documentary, titled "The Changing Face Of Worship," examines the challenge Christianity faces in attracting the MTV generation to the Church of the 21st century.
In "The Changing Face Of Worship" St. James' narrative takes viewers on a journey to introduce a new generation of "come as you are" Christianity--one that incorporates rock music, dance, film, poetry, painting, and scuplture into the experience of corporate worship. The documentary is a unique co-operative effort between the Southern Baptist Communication Group, the National Council Of Churches, The Jewish Theological Seminary, and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
St. James, 27, with international sales of her music in the multi-millions, has herself been a cutting edge influence in the "praise and worship" movement that has swept throughout the world in the past several years. Her creative involvement in NBC's "The Changing Face Of Worship" is a natural extension of her personal interest in keeping God as the center of her own life.
In a recent media interview, St. James noted, "My best definition of 'worship' is our love response to God's love for us. It's that sense of living in the celebration of the fact that I get to have a relationship with the Creator of the world. Just like prayer, worship shouldn't be reserved for one or two days a week. It should be a constant part of our lives."
Throughout December and January "The Changing Face Of Worship" will air as special programming on NBC stations and affiliates, and will have additional airings on FamilyNet affiliates.
