Stabbings at Target: Homeless Man, Leon Walls, Arrested (VIDEO)
A homeless man has been arrested and charged following a Target stabbing incident which left at least six people injured- one a 16-year-old-girl who is in serious condition.
The incident began at around 5:30 p.m. Monday night in an East Liberty, Penn. Target. A homeless man named Leon Walls, 41, has been arrested and is being charged in the incident. He is being held at Allegheny County Jail in lieu of a $250,000 bail, court records show.
Walls used a long kitchen knife and began to stab shoppers on the second floor of the store in what appeared to be a random act of violence. One of the victims involved includes a 16-year-old girl who is currently being treated at the Children's Hospital in Lawrenceville for a collapsed lung, according to Trib Live News. The girl, Allison Meadows, has been listed in serious condition.
Jobe Wright was a second victim involved in the incident. Wright called 911 after being stabbed in the arm, then continued pursuing Walls along with two other men.
"I saw this guy walk past a group of older gentlemen swinging a knife," Tyrique Walker, one of the pursuers whom Walls also attempted to stab, told WPXI-TV. "I walked up to the Target and saw him go inside. So I went up to a security guard and told them a guy who stabbed someone outside was in the store."
After police arrived, Wall refused to obey orders. Officials had to use pepper spray and a taser in order to get the suspect into submission, according to reports. He was taken to the hospital and treated before being arrested and held on bail. A preliminary court hearing has been scheduled for April 4.
