Star Athlete Lolo Jones Criticizes '50 Shades of Grey'

Athlete Lolo Jones has denounced the movie "Fifty Shades of Grey" for objectifying women and virginity. The bobsled and track and field star slammed the BDSM film on social media for its demotivating themes on sex.

Taking to Twitter to vehemently voice her opinion, the devout Christian NCAA titlist was disgusted when her teenage nephew and niece expressed their excitement over wanting to see the controversial movie, which stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson.

"Funny how some people think there's nothing wrong with 50 Shades of Grey," Jones, 32, tweeted to her over 408,000 followers on the micro-blogging app. "God didn't create sex for that purpose. Watch another movie."

Jones further said she was sad about the idea of high-school-age children wanting to watch a movie she believes promotes the unacceptable treatment of women and encourages a twisted version of love, particularly regarding first sexual experiences.

Jones, an Olympic track and field athlete who has publicly vowed to remain a virgin until marriage, stressed that men should always be gentlemen and that God did not intent for sex to be expressed in the manner it is depicted in the movie.

While Jones admitted she has not seen "Fifty Shades of Grey," she explained the BDSM themes of the E.L. James movie adaptation did not resonate with her, bringing back memories of the domestic abuse her mother suffered in the past, something which she remains adamantly against.

She further said the popular movie has snowballed into a force creating divisions between husbands and wives, with sexist jokes spreading about trapping a woman in a room and torturing her.

Jones also defended herself against the backlash she faced over her opinion and religious viewpoint.

"I just wish every woman would know she is worth more than what this movie depicts. And that every man knows being a gentleman is not outdated," she said.
