'Star Citizen' Release Date News: Game Designer Show Off Cities and Aurora

Developed by Cloud Imperium Games, "Star Citizen" is one of the most highly anticipated games in the community. Designed by Chris Roberts and written by Dave Haddock, their fans are unsurprisingly expecting the best of the best, especially since Roberts has already explained the amount of time and effort that goes into designing and detailing the space ship's cockpits. Considering that it has been a while since the fans heard from the developers, "Star Citizen" has received new information from Roberts.

"Obviously it's been quite a while since we delivered the last major patch [2.6]. It's been ... 10 months or so and that's just too long to have a content drought for you guys ... everyone gets a bit bored and that's not very good," said the game's designer Roberts, as reported by Eurogamer.

Roberts described the new information as a universe that is aesthetically similar to "Blade Runner." It features the transformed ArcCorp planet and Area 18, which players have used as a social space in the previous patches. The city itself is vast and deep, with buildings running as far as the eye can see. Indeed, it is as Roberts described it, which is that it is a city the size of planets. Aurora has also received a reworking, as it was used to showcase the fact that everything in the city is real and that players can get to whichever area they see.

PC Gamer noted that the city was also bustling with life as buildings run with neon lights and some buildings dispel smoke like a canyon periodically. All of these will be seen in "Star Citizen" beyond 3.0, which has yet to receive a release date. Although there is always the possibility that the patch will be released earlier, fans are hoping to have 3.0 before the year ends.

The full version of "Star Citizen" has yet to have a release date for Microsoft Windows and Linux platforms.
