'Star Trek' Updates: 50th Year Celebration Encompasses Six Series and 13 Movies; Extended Celebration of Timeless Franchise, Venue and Date of Event Set

Generations of "Star Trek" fans will flock to New York City to celebrate the 50 years of the timeless sci-fi franchise. Reports say that "Star Trek" is the most enduring science fiction film and television franchise and this three-day convention marks its supremacy in pop culture all over the U.S.
This extended celebration is part of "Star Trek's" mission to honor the cast, crew, and people who have made this series possible. Aside from "Star Trek Mission: New York", it was also reported that there will be conventions in Las Vegas. A much-awaited 100-city tour, which will include concerts, performance of a live symphony orchestra, art exhibits, and other activities is also in order. It actually started at the Comic-Con 2016 in San Diego a few months ago.
Some events related to the golden celebration have been launched, such as the Starfleet Academy Experience at the Intrepid Museum in New York and the restoration of the original model of the U.S.S. Enterprise at the Smithsonian Institution.

Cast and crew appearances
The three-day convention was organized by CBS and ReedPOP, an events company that operates New York Comic-Con. It will feature guest appearances by William Shatner, LeVar Burton, and other well-loved "Star Trek" cast. There will be panel discussions, video presentations, and interviews with the show's creators too. Writers of the new "Star Trek" TV series will also appear in a special panel.
Liz Kalodner, executive vice president of CBS Consumer Products, said that this celebration will encompass six different television series and 13 movies. She mentioned in an interview that they will have an extensive media campaign for the event and this starts on Thursday. Kalodner also promised that the event in NYC will be all about the show's fans. It will feature interactive presentations and activities where fans can have that "Star Trek" experience.
According to the organizers, there will be gaming zones, video games, a chance to play "Star Trek Online" and a tour of the new set for "Star Trek: The Original Series." The online game will soon be featured in Microsoft Xbox One and Sony PlayStation 4 formats. The set pieces included in the tour are the transporter console and the bridge of the original U.S.S. Enterprise.
Venue and date of event
A ReedPOP representative said that they are expecting the NYC event to attract anywhere from 15,000 to 30,000 fans. This will be held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center from September 9 to 11. Convention doors will open Friday morning for the event, but the much-awaited appearance of William Shatner will be on Sunday.
