'Star Wars Battlefront 2' Latest News: Characters From New 'Star Wars' Films to Appear in Game Sequel

Electronic Arts chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen recently revealed that the upcoming "Star Wars Battlefront 2" will be so much bigger and better than its predecessor.

During the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference on Tuesday, Feb. 28, Jorgensen teased a few details about the forthcoming "Star Wars Battlefront" sequel.

The EA executive declared that the upcoming "Star Wars" game will feature a "lot of new characters" from the new "Star Wars" films. However, Jorgensen did not specify which heroes and villains from the recent installments of the "Star Wars" movie saga will appear in "Star Wars Battlefront 2."

Although he did not share a list of new characters from the new movies that will appear in the upcoming video game, Jorgensen did go on to tease that "Star Wars Battlefront 2" will be "dramatically larger" than the previous game.

"The 'Star Wars' universe is just unbelievable to build games in because it's so vast," Jorgensen said.

The 2015 "Star Wars Battlefront" game features characters as well as content from the original "Star Wars" trilogy. It hosted several characters from recent movies such as "Star Wars: Rogue One" and "Star Wars: Episode 7 — The Force Awakens."

Content from "Rogue One" was launched as a paid expansion pack called "Rogue One: Scarif," while "Star Wars: Episode 7" was introduced in the first-person shooter game with the "Battle of Jakku" downloadable content (DLC).

The upcoming "Battlefront" sequel is also revealed to feature a single-player campaign, which is being developed by Motive Studios.

Jorgensen also discussed BioWare's mystery IP, teasing that it will be "more sci-fi-related." This new information adds to the details shared by EA CEO Andrew Wilson in January.

"When you think about this game, you should be thinking about the great RPG character development and storyline progression that BioWare is known for, but in a world of greater action and greater adventure, which is growing to be one of the larger categories in games," Wilson said.

"Star Wars Battlefront 2" is currently being developed and is scheduled for launch sometime later this year.
