'Star Wars: Battlefront 2' News: Multiplayer Restored on the Classic 2005 Installment
First released back in October of 2005, "Star Wars: Battlefront 2" has since been one of the most loved releases in the gaming community. Although some fans tend to confuse it with the upcoming "Star Wars: Battlefront II," this classic from game developer Pandemic Studios and Savage Entertainment just revived the hype as an unexpected announcement was made just recently.
Reports have revealed that "Star Wars: Battlefront 2" now has support for multiplayer once again.
"Star Wars fans rejoice! Multiplayer support has returned for Battlefront II. Now you can draft your friends to the 501st Legion and join up to 64 other players in a heated online battle for control of the galaxy," Disney said in a statement posted via Steam.
The multiplayer support for "Star Wars: Battlefront 2" was removed back in May 2014, according to reports. GameSpy multiplayer servers shut down, which caused a lot of game titles to suddenly halt their online modes.
Considering the amount of time that has passed since the shutting down, many fans of the "Star Wars" universe did not think that the game would ever have support for multiplayer modes again. Thus, once the announcement was made that it has been restored, many fans were unexpectedly and pleasantly thrilled.
For the fans who have not gotten the chance to give the game title a shot, GOG is currently offering it at a discounted price of $5, while Steam is offering it for $10. Fans can also try out the upcoming "Star Wars: Battlefront II" through the open beta that is currently being conducted.
They will not have long to wait before it is released, as "Star Wars: Battlefront 2" is scheduled to hit the stores on Nov. 17 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. While waiting for the game, the multiplayer for the classic game title should help tide over the anticipation.
