'Star Wars Battlefront II' Gameplay News: Devs Promise Changes as Players Cast Concerns on Loot Boxes During Beta

The developers of the upcoming game "Star Wars Battlefront II" promised that they would be applying some changes, especially on the loot boxes, based on the feedback they received during its beta testing.

During the first week of October, developers from DICE and Electronic Arts opened the multiplayer beta for "Star Wars Battlefront II" across all platforms where the game would be offered, namely the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

During the beta period, many players expressed concern over how the loot crates worked on "Star Wars Battlefront II."

In the upcoming game, these loot crates will contain ability upgrades, in-game currency, Star Cards and items needed to craft weapons and other gear. Like most games, these crates can be purchased. In "Star Wars Battlefront II's" case, the loot crates can be bought using 1,100 credits.

The credits, on the other hand, are obtained either by winning matches, collecting random loot drops, or with real money.

Since the option to purchase loot crates with real money was not made available during the multiplayer beta, gamers observed that after playing and winning several matches, they ended up having a few less than a couple hundreds of credits. This brought about an impending concern over the balance in the loot crates system since players who are willing to spend real cash on loot boxes are at an advantage, compared to those who will rely on winning credits and getting loot drops.

In a recent statement from EA, the developers recognized that the issue on the crates is one of the most discussed matters that emerged when the multiplayer beta went live.

EA said: "Rest assured, we're continuing to listen to you coming out of Beta. We're taking a look at some of the most discussed topics, from Crates and progression to Strike mode."

The developers added: "We know you have a lot of questions about Crates and progression, so we want to clarify a few things, as the complete system was not in the Beta and will continue to be tuned over time."

The developers listed specific areas where players can expect to see some changes as the game arrives next month, the crates' issue included.

"Star Wars Battlefront II" will be released on Friday, Nov. 17.
