'Star Wars: Episode 8' Cast Rumors, News: Yoda May Be Appearing in 'The Last Jedi'

Much like any other beloved film franchise, the upcoming installment in the "Star Wars" saga has found itself at the center of yet another rumor. This time, it involves one of the most iconic characters in the film series: Yoda.

"Star Wars Episode 8," which is officially titled "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," has been surrounded by speculations that the legendary green Jedi Master may be making an appearance. Famous for his wise words, powerful command of the Force and unique speech pattern, Yoda was brought to life in the original films by Frank Oz.

A recent interview with the puppeteer has only fueled speculations that Yoda might be appearing in "The Last Jedi." Speaking with Variety, Oz seemed to allude to his character's inclusion.

"I feel like I'm a prisoner at war here, and I can only give you my name, rank and serial number," he said, according to Variety. "To be true to the people who asked me, and they are kind of my family, I have to say I've been asked not to talk about it. I love Yoda. I would be happy to talk to you about it at the time they let me."

His response is particularly interesting, especially when he pointed out that he has been asked not to speak about the rumors. It is possible that the reason he is withholding information is because there is some truth to the rumors and Yoda will be making an appearance after all. However, since nothing can be confirmed right now, fans should take this news with a grain of salt.

Fans can be sure of one thing, though: Mark Hamill will return as Luke Skywalker. And if J.J. Abrams has anything to say about it, Hamill's performance in "The Last Jedi" is worthy of an Oscar.

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" will premiere in U.S. theaters on Dec. 15.
